Client: National Marathon

Background:

The National Marathon was a relatively new race, but still a serious one, and used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and the Olympics.

Objective:

To raise awareness of the race within the racing community and the Metro Washington area to attract spectators.

Challenge:

To garner media attention on the event through stories on participants within a two month time-frame.

The Solution...

Strategy:

BCI identified individuals that have unique stories about why they run marathons. (local, national media outreach) Incorporate “The Biggest loser” TV show contestants into the race. Follow individuals through their training regime.

Results:

Over 80 television hits and over 10.3 million audience members reached between print, online and broadcast media.
